Hey Reader,
A real convo I had with a family member over the holidays:
Them - I'm not really loving my Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card. I can't seem to find any way to use my points.
Me - Oh shoot, that's interesting. How did you book your flights for your Caribbean vacation in March?
Them - We booked with JetBlue using cash.
Me - π€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈ
While they didn't do anything 'wrong,' they had no idea JetBlue was a direct transfer partner of Chase Ultimate Rewards points. So they never made the comparison between points cost vs. cash cost for those tickets.
This is why I'm such a big proponent of taking a few minutes to understand the perks, benefits, and transfer partnerships of all your cards when you sign up.
You can track it on a spreadsheet, keep a sticky note on your desk, or simply ask your friendly travel advisor (aka me π) before making a booking to make sure you're getting the most value from your points.
Because if you've taken the time to open this email, I know you want to make the most out of your money AND your points!
Head's up - the CSP card has an elevated bonus offer right now of 75k points (usually 60k points) after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months.
Talk soon,
Michelle
