Hey Reader,
Let me tell you something I used to believe:
“Points and miles? That’s for people who fly business class to Europe or rack up $100k in spend on their corporate Amex.”
I figured I wasn’t traveling enough to make it worth learning. I wasn’t flying every week for work, I wasn’t balling out on five-star hotels, and honestly I was just trying to take a couple affordable trips a year without draining my savings.
But here’s what I wish someone told me earlier:
Points and miles aren’t just for luxury travelers or 'rich people'.
They’re for anyone who wants to save money on travel, especially on last-minute or short-haul flights that can get ridiculously expensive.
Sure, points are great to make luxury experiences more affordable for the regular person, but they're also great for straight up getting where you need to go.
Got a bachelor or bachelorette party, wedding, or want to visit a friend who just had a baby? Use those points to get there without giving it a second thought!
For example, I can get almost anywhere in the country from Boston next month for about 15k points or less.
Not biz class or a lie-flat seat. Just getting where you need to go, without blowing your budget.
Points aren’t just for vacation. They’re for connection.
For the friends you haven’t seen in years. For the sibling who just had a baby. For the aunt you keep saying you’ll visit “someday.”
If you’ve ever felt like points and miles “aren’t for people like me...” I get it.
But I promise you: with the right travel credit card (or two), and a little intention, you can open up way more travel than you thought possible.
Talk soon,
Michelle
