Hey Reader,
I know how it feels to get so excited about a cheap flight, but when the travel day actually comes and your alarm goes off at 3 am... it suddenly doesn't feel so good anymore...
So how much did that cheap flight actually cost? On the receipt it says $100 round trip, but what it might actually cost you is:
- A poor night of sleep and feeling like crap the first day of your trip
- The price of two extra coffees to stay awake
- An overpriced airport breakfast since you left home too early to eat
- Paying for a carry-on once you check in at the airport
Now - are there times when a super cheap flight, waking up before the crack of dawn, and shoving all your clothes in a backpack to not pay for a carry-on are worth it? You bet.
For me personally, it might make sense when maximizing a weekend trip, or if my only other options were hundreds and hundreds of dollars more.
It's all about expectations and knowing the full "cost" before planning the rest of the itinerary.
The "right" flight isn't the same for everyone. Some of my clients would happily wake up at 2 am to save $150. Others would pay double to avoid a 6 am departure. Neither approach is wrong, they're just different priorities.
If you're someone who values your time and sanity but doesn't want to overpay (or spend hours researching), that's my specialty. I help travelers find that sweet spot between cost and convenience, building trips that match your actual travel personality (not just the "I'll totally be fine with a 3 AM departure" version of yourself you imagine when booking).
