Hey Reader,
Today I'm spending the day in the truck. Yup, we're in a slog of driving back home from our 3 month RV road trip and we have to get there quick because... man it's cold.
Travel can be super exhilarating and exciting, but it can also have its moments - like 4 days of straight driving ðŸ«
This got me thinking…
What makes someone successful at trip planning and travel hacking? Well, I’ve made a list. And I hope you’ll help me add to it.
1) You're in it for the long game
Travel hacking isn't a 'get points quick' game. Sure, you get a chunk of points when you sign up for a new card, but even a welcome bonus takes months to achieve. Plus, the best deals are to be had when you can plan as far in advance as possible.
2) Flexibility and realistic expectations
Think about 1. when you want to go and 2. where you want to go. Now, throw one of those out the window because if you want to travel on a budget, you probably can't have both of those things at once. Flexibility is truly the key to travel hacking. I always say to let the deal decide the destination!
3) Willing to learn from past mistakes
Will you make a crappy points redemption or let travel credits expire on accident? Probably... But that's OK. Use these lessons to push the value of your points and miles, or find even better travel deals next time.
I think if you have these 3 things in your back pocket, you’re bound to travel more this coming year, and save some $$$ while you're at it.
What quality would you add to my list Reader?

Michelle
